Regeneration is a multiracial, multigenerational church near Lake Merritt in Oakland, led by Pastor George Scanlan. It began as a Bible study in 1999 and became a church in 2001. Sunday worship includes music, Bible teaching and weekly communion, with care and classes for children and young people. Community groups offer space for friendship, prayer and study. Cross Streets serves Sunday breakfast to neighbors in need, while foster-family support and English and citizenship classes connect the congregation with its wider community.
Sunday worship begins at 8:30 AM at 238 East 15th Street, Oakland. Arrive at least ten minutes early for parking and a warm drink at the cafe. The small lot across the street is reserved for visitors, families with young children, seniors and people with disabilities; street parking is also available. Services include two worship sets, Bible teaching and weekly communion, and usually last about seventy-five minutes. Children join the opening music before going to their programs. An infant/toddler room and a preschool-through-fourth-grade class are available, with youth gatherings for older students. Contact the church to confirm the appropriate youth group.
