Calvary Chapel Downey is led by senior pastor Art Reyes and teaches the Bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse. The congregation began as a Bible study in 1973 and meets on Woodruff Avenue for Sunday and Wednesday services, with a Spanish ministry and an Arabic Bible study on the same campus. Families have nursery care, children's classes and youth ministries. The church also offers young-adult fellowship, men's and women's studies, marriage ministry, grief and addiction support, and outreach to people facing homelessness, foster families and incarcerated people. Calvary Chapel Christian School serves preschool through high-school students.
