Calvary Chapel Escondido began as a home Bible study led by Rick Greene in May 2021. It is an independent church affiliated with the Calvary Chapel Association, with verse-by-verse Bible teaching and contemporary worship. Sunday services meet in the theater at Orange Glen High School, while Wednesday Bible study meets at the East Valley Community Center. Calvary Kids, nursery care and junior-high teaching serve families on Sundays. Home groups meet in Escondido and Valley Center, and the meals ministry supports people in the church during illness, recovery or other times of need.

Cross Connection Escondido grew from a Bible study begun in 1980 and is a Bible-centered congregation connected with Calvary Chapel and the Southern Baptist Convention. Miles DeBenedictis has led the church since 2008. Sunday worship combines contemporary music with teaching through whole books of the Bible. Children's ministry, Connect Groups and seasonal Life Groups help people form relationships and study Scripture together. Services meet on Seven Oakes Road and are also available online.
